Barbershop Visit – Local Barbier

As you may have noticed, I have been cleaning /re-organizing the web site. In that process, it became obvious that some key events and brands had actually never made here since the bulk of my posting is going directly to Instagram especially when it’s video content.  But not everyone is on Instagram and I wanted to share this one here.  This post was initially published back in August 2023.

Since the beginning of 2023 I have been able to reboot the Barbershop segment of our reviews. I am super psyched about today’s visit @local_barbier

First off, Local holds everything one would expect from a proper Barbershop:

• Authentic vintage vibe
• Classic Barber chairs
• Shop dog (George)
• Men specific hair and beard products

But as we all know, it’s one thing to look like a Barbershop and it’s another to be a Barbershop.Meeting Tanya, the owner and master mind behind the shop sold it! Her welcoming, easy-going and genuine attitude is contagious and clearly sets that relaxed and comfortable state that defines the shop. Even George was as chill as can be.

We got talking about how to shop came to be, clients, the business, products, the ups and downs of the industry and our common passions for all things Barbershop.

I was then lucky enough to sit in Tanya’s chair for a beard cleanup and got to experience first-hand what kind of service is offered.

Well, I was blown away! Shave cream, hot towel, clipper, scissors, more shave cream and here comes the straight razor to clean up the edges and contour, a beard balm application and some aftershave as a finishing touch. Everything was perfect. (I’ll put some of that footage out later.)

I was at the shop an hour and it felt like time had stopped. Think Barbershop therapy, for while you are in the chair your other concerns are on hold so that you can get groomed to look like the best version of you.

TAKEAWAY
For this Barbershop enthusiast it was a 5 stars experience and a new regular destination.

Since publishing this post in August 2023, Local has become my “de facto” Barbershop as well as a social media partner.

One of the first videos I filmed at Local was that of a total hair transformation and remains one of my favourite to this day.
