King of Wood by Milkman
Trying out the King of Wood eau de parfum by Milkman.
SPOILER ALERT: Loved it! And it’s a perfect winter fragrance IMO
So what are we looking at?
- TOP: Bay leaves, Cinnamon leaves
- MIDDLE: Oak, Patchouli, Vanilla
- BASE: Sandalwood, Cedar, Smoke
To my nose the cinnamon is what comes out first and gently caresses everything else. I wouldn’t say that this is cinnamon fragrance, but it is a key player. FYI – I initially assumed that it was clove.
From there things get wrapped in a velvety embrace of sweet vanilla and sandalwood. At the tail end of it all is the wood finale.
This is a comforting arrangement. It brings memories of warn cinnamon apple drinks that we would have to warm up after some ice skating. Beyond that there is gentle familiarity to it. A delicious sense of peace and serenity of a weekend spent at the family cabin in the woods.
It’s unpretentious, but classy, it’s uncomplicated, but deep.
For my nose, it’s a winner. When I read the notes, I expected something woody and sweet, but the results are more than that. I recognize the notes, but once crafted together it becomes more of a state of mind than just an arrangement.
As this beauty was created in Australia, I am sure that it might trigger completely different memories there, but I am sure that we all end up in a similar peaceful destination when wearing King of Wood.
Projection is good, but this is not a “in your face” thing. My 2-3 sprays weren’t enough to tell the neighborhood that I was on the move.

As this is an eau de parfum, it has a higher concentration of fragrance (20%) and that gives a clearer fragrance that also has some staying power. Those 2-3 sprays gave me 4-7 hours.
TAKEAWAY
A vanilla-wood arrangement that heads to new directions while being familiar and comfortable.
