• Things don’t always go the way you expect, but a

• Things don’t always go the way you expect, but at times you go with the flow.

I recently tried to book a cut with my Barber. It was pretty much a last minute thing and it didn’t work out – my fault for not planning ahead.

So I opted to book with her next in line. Appointment accepted, confirmation received and I showed up at my scheduled time the next day. She’s not there. The 3rd Barber in line called her up and by all accounts she had left her schedule open and didn’t check her notifications. Not great!

The 3rd Barber being free offered to do the service. Somewhat hesitant, I went along with it. My cut isn’t overly complicated, but my skull is pretty banged up with dents and one nasty scare that spans some 10 inches or so. That said, I like a fade on the sides and back and a classic long pomp/quiff on top. A common Barbershop cut!

The Barber starts with the sides and seams rather intimidated by the job. In fact, this phase takes over 30 minutes. By the time he gets to the top, it’s like he’s forgotten what the job is and more or less stops. Maybe 2 scissor cuts in the bangs. At this point the cut is over. No drying of the hair. No pomade, no straight razor shave of the neck or contour, no clean up with a towel. To the cash and it’s full price.

Life is too short to get into an argument at this point, but based on this one experience alone, I would not go back to this shop.

Being a Barber is way more than holding clippers There is a process, a series of events, an etiquette. There is a code!

I am reminded of a place I love in Montreal called @dillingers_mtl They live by a Barber code. JB the owner also frequently talks about the rampant poor standards in the industry.

People should charge according to what is being done and as per their experience.

• More complicated cut, executed by a master Barber = Full price

• Basic or half service executed by a junior = Not full price

And take a look at the Team, that one who never seams to be working, who rarely has a client in his chair – maybe there’s a reason.

This bar was a winner for my sensitive skin. It also did really well on my hair.

Yep! I had the same expression as you: What da…?!

Here is the word on the street:

Super Deodorant is a high-performance, aluminum-free, and baking soda-free natural deodorant that uses medical-grade silver and zinc oxide.

How it works: Contains pure, medical-grade non-nano silver. Since it is free of aluminum and baking soda, it is heavily favored for sensitive skin and helps prevent underarm irritation.

As you know deodorants have been a recurring product category here on Style4men, so I ordered a jar. Yes, it is a tad more expensive. That said, shipping was free and I got a 10% or something discount on top of it all.

At some $29 it was comparable to other options. By the way Super Deodorant is a Canadian company and shipping was free in both Canada and the US when I last ordered.

How did it do? Actually, pretty darn well. It is straight forward to apply. About a pea size rubbed in the underams and let's face the day. I actually felt protected and didn’t stink. In fact I would go as far as to say that this did better than a number of my natural go-to’s.

The one thing I sort of disliked about it was the hand application, because I felt like I needed to wash my hands after. Not a deal breaker considering the performance.

You might be amuzed to know that I was initially looking into another Canadian company also making a silver deodorant. That one comes in a nicer glass jar as opposed to this plastic tub. In the end, I opted for Super Deodorant because of the free shipping which adds at least $15 to anything now a days.

After using this for the last 3 weeks, it’s my new go-to.

Back in 1995-1996 vinyl had mostly become a problem to find and like many others I embraced the convenience of CDs.

In fact, if memory serves me right I first heard this on tape.

Faithless and Insomnia came out as a beakon from deep underground and eventually converted anyone who could hear. For me it was instant love.

Music was changing, new flavours were coming to life, but Faithless was (is) something apart.

I am thrilled to have been forewarned that this was going to be available. Shout out to @popmusicto for making this happen.
