Cuban Vintage Beauties
In the first week of March 2018, we were lucky enough to do a family trip down to Cuba. We went to Cayo Coco to be exact. This is a near-island extension that spring out of Cuba in the middle north side. It is an absolutely beautiful place and the Cubans that make it all happen are just as amazing as their island. Cayo Coco is a tourist only destinations, so in that sense it is not a “Real-Cuba” type of scenario. Nevertheless, everything has that Cuban cachet.
During this trip we had the luxury of meeting a number of wonderful Cubans and I was certainly hoping to be able to make a post about a locally produced pomade. But to my great deception, I was informed by the Hair Stylists we met that no one in Cuba produces a pomade. The reason is not because of a lack of desire or creativity, far from it! It was simply because of a limited access to raw material to make such things.
I will admit being surprised that there was no pomade to be found, because I witnessed some seriously slick pomps. To be precise, the Cuban men had one of two haircuts: a faded contour with a mid-length pomp or a faded contour with a short and even top. And clearly everyone was using a product of some sort to hold things in place! Some hairspray seemed to be available. A decent quality and affordable pomade would be a hit there!
So what is this post about? I saw some gorgeous vintage cars from the 50’s (and one from the 40’s). I am no car expert, but I do appreciate beauty and form. Since the stretch between pomade and vintage cars is perhaps small, I figured some of you would enjoy the pictures.
