TOTAL DETOX Charcoal Face Wash from ‘Dans un Jardin ‘

Charcoal face wash is a big thing at the moment. Actually, pretty much anything with charcoal in it is a big thing at the moment in the grooming-beauty industry.  Charcoal is abundantly available and it has shown excellent properties when it comes to sucking out dirt of tight spots – like skin pores for example.  So here we are, trying out the latest charcoal cleaner from “Dans un Jardin”, the TOTAL DETOX!

First things first, “Dans un Jardin” is a Canadian company located in Boucherville which is north of Montreal (Quebec).  Their biggest product offering is in the perfume/fragrance space.  I was first introduced to their perfumes when Mrs. Style4men and I picked up a bottle of Mirabella for her.  The scent of this perfume was complete happiness and joy.   It made us think of cherry-strawberry Candy.  The Mirabella was a total find.  Mrs. Style4men is up to her second bottle of the stuff.

This led me to explore their product line further and revealed that they made stuff for guys too.  I tried out their very nice shaving solutions.  Read that review here.

So we here we are with this cool rectangular bottle.  Pumping this stuff out of the bottle you will be face to face with a black viscus gel like liquid.  It is worthy of a 1980’s horror movie and it’s awesome!

The product has a distinctive minty scent going on, which I am expecting will also have a sensory effect on the skin.

I do the wash face thing in the shower.  I like things to be easy and the shower is the optimal-mess-free space for a sloppy and clumsy guy like myself to wash my face with a product.  So I took a rather small portion of the DETOX black slime, perhaps the size of a quarter.  Spread it in my hands and started the face wash.  Once the product is spread a little, the intense black colour will be reduced and will turn to a grey.

That initial minty scent does have a little kick on the skin.  It is a welcomed gentle wake-up sensation.  It is very mild so nothing to worry about.  I think that I have sensitive skin and this product did not irritate or aggravate anything.  Once I had washed my whole face, I rinsed.  The goo came off nice and easy leaving no residue and leaving no black skid marks in my shower.  My face felt very nice and clean. A seriously nice sensation.

Since the face wash is more or less the preparation step to my shave, I am always aware that this step and the product used could have an impact on my shave.  Nothing to report here!  No reaction, no irritation, no redness.  Things are perfectly smooth.   

A few of the charcoal face washes I have tried so far had some exfoliating or gritty elements within.  By comparison, the DETOX is a smooth like gel. But that being said, it has surprising cleansing properties.  If you are like me, you might think that scrubbing hard equates to a cleaner results?!  You will be surprised that this isn’t necessarily the only way.  This very gentle face cleaner is a hard working option.

In closing, this is a very nice face wash.  The positive claims on charcoal are totally confirmed here.  The minty freshness is a nice finishing touch to start the day!
