Devil’s Delight Beard Oil by Billy Jealousy
Billy Jealousy is a brand I explored at length a few years back. The highlights are: relevant products, incredible performance and names that just put a smile on my face. Case in point, their SHAVE3SOME! See, you are smiling too!

Billy Jealousy has grooming products in the following spaces: shave hair, skin and beard! Beard oils are a product category that we have been seriously enjoying and we had never tried theirs.
My local Barber supplier, OBSCO carries the bulk of the Billy Jealousy line so I placed my order with them for a bottle of “Devil’s Delight” beard oil. With the Covid-19 situation, OBSCO is currently offering free delivery within Ottawa-Gatineau. My beard oil was dropped off the morning after I placed my order. Now that’s impressive!
There are a few note-worthy elements about the bottle itself. First off, it’s a 60 ml thing. That’s twice the size of the standard 30 ml beard oil bottle that everybody is using. The bottle is white plastic which keeps in line with the overall brand presentation. Beard oils generally come with a drop counter and occasionally with a dispensing pump. Billy Jealousy has opted to go with a dispensing pump.
Honestly, I like the drop counter and the dispensing pump as they both have something to offer. The drop counter feels authentic and old-school which I love. That said the pump has the huge benefit of being mess-free. Something that can be very relevant when it comes to oil. Take it from someone who has dropped their bottle in the sink and lost most it.

As you know, I keep my beard rather short (1-2 cm). So what is the interest in beard oil, you might ask? Two reasons – Moisture and fragrance! In my mind, beard oils are the bearded man’s aftershave. A good oil will keep your beard and the skin underneath moisturize. Read that as “itch-free”! The other real big perk are the amazing fragrances that can be discovered in beard oils.
The fragrance I found in the Devil’s Delight was nothing short of pure and simple joy. Billy Jealousy describes the Devil’s Delight scent as follow: “…rich, warm, sweet black pepper and sandalwood fragrance notes.”
My nose did not identify the black pepper element, but it did recognize: vanilla, sandalwood and possibly maraschino cherries. For the cherry surprise twist alone, it is making its way into my favorite list.
The fragrance was Mrs. Style4men approved as I got a nice, yum! Lasting power is in the range of about 2 hours before fading away. But those were some pretty nice 2 hours!
The composition of a beard oil is obviously crucial as the product has to deliver on the key premise which is to hydrate and moisturize your mug. The key players are:
- Soybean oil
- Sunflower Oil
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Coconut oil)
- Styrene/Butadiene Copolymer (Viscocity Control)
- Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Oil
- Sweet Almond oil
- Jojoba Seed Oil
- Avocado Oil
- Tocopherol (Vitamin E)
I used 1 drop per cheek. The oil is light, pleasant and goes in smoothly. The absorption was not instant but within 30 minutes the product had been lapped up. I didn’t feel like I immediately had to wash my hands and you could very simply rub the excess on your arms or hands.
Here is the score card (on a scale of 5) for this beard oil:
- Composition: 4.5 (Taking half a point away as we are almost at a full natural ingredient list)
- Aroma: 5+
- Performance: 5
In closing, this oil was a winner. A considerably bigger bottle than the norm, an incredibly pleasant fragrance and excellent performance in the moisturizing department. All and all this oil lived up to the positive experiences I had with other Billy Jealousy products and I am thrilled that I have a bottle. Actually, I might have to get the rest of the line-up as well.
