GUESS DARE Homme – Modern Classic
This was a blind buy at my local pharmacy (Shopper’s/Pharmaprix) where they liquidate big brand fragrances for $20/bottle. I like the GUESS brand and had never explored any of their fragrances. Considering the price point and the few review highlights I took in while shopping, I figured this was worth a try.
Presentation wise, this is an attractive bottle with the fragrance being a masculine greyish-blue. Note that in the picture the sun light going through the bottle makes it look purple.
My first impression of DARE is a classic men’s arrangement along with a tail end of freshness.
• Top: Bergamot, White Pepper, Juniper Berry
• Middle: Geranium, Jasmine, Cashmere Wood
• Base: Musk, Patchouli, Cedarwood
Bergamot, Musk, Patchouli and Cedarwood account for the very classic aspect of this arrangement as these are the recurring participants in men’s fragrances. The White Pepper brings a delicate spicy presence. Finally, the Juniper Berry, Geranium and Jasmine create the final bow on the experience.
Being an Eau de Toilette, I wasn’t expecting much as far as longevity. It’s in the ball park of 1-2 hours for 3-4 shots.
This feels like an expensive fragrance that most will enjoy. I like it and will wear it in an office setting for example. But to my nose it’s more of a main stream arrangement and lacks that wow factor that would make me want to roll in it like a happy pooch.
