Billy Jealousy – Liquidsand
Liquidsand is an exfoliating facial cleaner for men by Billy Jealousy. Yes, this is somewhat outside of the usual scope of things, but it is not entirely in left field for Style4Men.

As an adolescent I was very fortunate to not be overly proned to acne, but like all teens pimples did show up. To help reduce their impact (the pimples impact that is) this was about the time where I added a face wash to my shower routine. The pimples were controlled and eventually they were just gone. As a young adult I figured that I would continue with the face wash since after all my face was exposed to everything everyday – washing it just made sense. In that light I have been using a face wash ever since.
Over time, I tried numerous brands as well as going through all of the trends of what should go in a face wash. From rice to charcoal. Some elements have remained constant; the usage of some gritty elements to help in the exfoliating process. I know: WTF?! Exfoliating just mean having something gritty in the formulation to help scrub off dirt particules. If you have ever spent any time in a mechanic “shop”you might already be familiar with the same type of products used to wash grease and dirt off of your hands. The one used in car shops comes in a big orange tub with a pump and it impresses me every time with how easily it removes car grease. That stuff is sold at Canadian Tire in the automotive section and I would not suggest to use it on your face.
This is where the Liquisand face wash comes in. It is a face appropriate exfoliating cleaner. Scent wise it is very mild and pretty much just smells like a discreet hand cream. Its texture is smooth and when rubbing it in your hands you will feel a ever so slight grittiness to it. In my opinion it is a perfect balance of grittiness. I have tried some face wash in the past that were more closely related to the hand wash described above then to anything you should put on your face.
Washing with Liquisand was quite nice. It is mild enough to be comfortable and strong enough to actually feel like it is washing away dirt. Upon rinsing is when you feel the difference with this product compared to other products. My skin felt soft and rejuvenated. Not squeaky or dry or irritated.
Testing a face wash is a very short process; application, scrubbing, rinsing. Maybe 1 minutes of contact with the product. But during this limited time, it did the job and left my face feeling fine.
This is perhaps something I should expand on here. Irritation is a fairly big area of concern when tampering with facial care products. The last thing you want is to have some sort of reaction to your shaving cream or anything else you might be putting on your face even if its just for a few minutes. I am very lucky not being allergic to anything and to have a skin that is not subject to reactions. Nevertheless, some products out there have caused me excessive redness. To date all of the Billy Jealousy products I have tried have been perfect encounters; no reaction, no redness, no irritation. I want to mention that as it speaks to a quality formulation of their products. Obviously, I am not a Chemist or an Dermatologist but this “Test Subject” has only had good experiences with their product line.
In short, if you are looking for a face wash, “Liquidsand” is a very nice candidate.
