Bull Dog Face Wash – Velvet Like Smooth
Today’s post is about a face wash. This is a type of product we don’t cover very often, but should since taking care of our mugs is just has important as washing our hands. In fact, I have used that same analogy in the last post I wrote about face washes. Our hands are touching all sorts of things, some awesome and some less awesome. One thing is for sure: we wash our hand frequently. We want to get ride of: germs, dirt and other undesirable gunk. The same should be true with our faces, since lest we forget, that cool mug of yours is exposed to everything, all the time! Our faces actually get more air time than any other parts of our body. It would only makes sense that we give it minimal love, since after all, it is our calling card – you might want want to keep it in good shape.
OK that’s the intro. If you want an in depth dermatology expose on why you should wash your face, some of the women sites have great details: Why washing your face is important.
When I was a teen I was a very active cyclist. During the training rides it was rather common to encounter; bugs, dirt, mud, smog and whatever else a road can trow at you. This dirty result was generally augmented by sweat. Basically, the only logical thing to do was to give the darn thing a wash and I stuck with it.
I go through a tube of face wash about every 6-8 weeks. I was just about to need a new tube when while doing some errands at my local Shoppers Drugs Mart (Pharmaprix in Quebec), I came across a brand I had seen a few times in some of my searches but that was unavailable in Canada. This brand is: Bull Dog. It comes to us from the UK and by all appearances, Bull Dog is making a break through in the Canadian market in the Shoppers Drug Mart chain.
Bull Dog’s presentation is simple and to the point: white tube with a big brown Bull Dog logo. Fairly easy to identify. What might not be as easy is which product to choose. They offer a wide range of skin care and face washes. In fact, the display I encountered had about 10 products. I will admit being a bit more interested than most guys in reading the labels, but this was almost too much. I eventually spotted something that would suit my testing interest – a sensitive skin face wash. OK so the product selection is a bit busy but the pricing is back to being simple, every tube is $14. This is a touch more expensive than the L’Oréal face wash I have been getting, but its not one of those situation where you have to start saving up or skipping meals.
OK, so why would I get me a tube of that stuff? The short answer is because it does a smooth job. This is a thick clear gel where a a dime size squirt will take care of business. It foams up nicely and rinses off easily. It left my mug feeling clean and very smooth. Since I wash my mug in the shower before the shave, I need a face wash that will not react with my shaving cream or after shave. You might think that you rinsed that stuff well, but most of these products have a secret moisturizing agenda and tend to leave a 5th column behind to take care of you. I mention this because I have had issues with at least one face wash that made my skin too tender for the shave and I ended up with a razor rash. So no rash or irritation or redness with Bull Dog!
Bull Dog offers a “natural” promise. Getting as close to “natural” as possible is becoming more and more important to me. As we become more aware of the long term effect of certain chemicals or combinations of products, the better, simpler healthier choices should and can be made.
As mentioned above this stuff is a clear gel. Further to that it has no scent. Therefore this will not collide with anything else fragrance wise.
Did I like it? Yep! Enough to decide it was worth sharing.
Stay sharp out there!
