FRISK Natural Deodorant

FRISK Deodorant

Over the last year or so my interest in deodorants has grown to the point that I am trying out a few of them each month.  About 2 years ago I started to be more concerned about the chemicals that were found in the grooming products and that I was putting on my body.  The softer skin in the arm pit space being perhaps even more vulnerable than the rest of us made me think that I should explore natural options.

For the bulk of my life I have been an anti-perspirant man because my initial tests in my late teens showed me that I needed more protection than what a deodorant could offer.  This assessment was based on what was available in pharmacies at the time.  This was also before the internet and the explosion of the artisanal economy that we are currently in.

FRISK

FRISK DeodorantFast forward to today and there are more and more brands offering healthier options in the grooming space.  As part of my product research, I came across the FRISK deodorant brand.  Up front I liked their straight-forward product presentation.

Shout out to FRISK for having me try their products.

At a glance FRISK looks very much like any other deodorant stick.  This is actually something I like, because many of the other natural deodorants are relying on a finger application.  Not a deal breaker, but I don’t always want to wash my hands after an application.  Convenience is a point of consideration.

The deodorant tubes go for $20 CND and that includes shipping – yep!  Instead of toying with your shopping emotions FRISK took the approach to wrap everything up in one price.  You can get both deodorants for $36 which makes a nice package.

Size wise, this tube being at 70g doesn’t stand out and is very much in line with what folks are expecting.

The ingredient list on the FRISK tube made me even more interested in trying this product out.  Coconut oil, arrowroot powder and Shea butter are the leading participants on a rather short list of players.

The folks that are NOT invited to the game are: aluminum, parabens, propylene glycol, baking soda and fragrances.

FRISK DeodorantThe labelling indicates that there are no fragrances but that doesn’t mean that the product does not have a scent.  FRISK No.1 has a faint aroma of pine or tea tree.  It is not a strong fragrance.  Just enough to be noticed but not strong enough to dominate.

FRISK N0.2 which based on the floral imagery on the labelling, is targeted to women has elements of thyme, rosemary and perhaps lemon or lemon grass.  Again very faint.

Application is none eventful.  The deodorant is a firm paste that adheres smoothly.  I didn’t use much.  It felt like it dried quickly and I went about my day.  The main thing about deodorant is not smelling.  I will attest that it did a great job at.  I felt confident.  On one of my test days the temperature was 40’C and I did sweat, but I didn’t stink.

I typically only apply deodorant in the morning when starting my day.  As such I am expecting that this will cover me till night time.  FRISK did the job.  On that day where it was 40’C, a second application would have been necessary, but then again that would be true for any product I believe.

Another important point I would like to mention is that my body worked well with this product.  I think that this an is important aspect to mention because it being a natural product doesn’t mean that you are automatically protected or immuned.  Our body’s can have intolerance’s to many things.  I have tried other magnesium charcoal deodorants and suffered a few nasty arm pit pimples.  Not a comfortable or pleasant experience.  No issues with FRISK!

Style4men.ca is all about promoting Canadian brands and I was pleased to learn that FRISK is not only a Canadian brand, but it is also from my part of the woods – Ottawa.

FRISK Deodorant

When chatting with the brand owner, I inquired about the brand name.  As it turns out FRISK means “FRESH” in Danish! Before coming to Canada, the brand owners where in Denmark where the idea for this natural product came to life.

The sum things up, FRISK is a simple and straight-forward natural deodorant solution.  No frills and to the points.  It worked very well for me and I will be using that whole stick!
