Dapper Boy water based pomade from 3 Decker Pomade Co.
Trying out the Dapper Boy water based pomade from the guys over at 3 Decker Pomade Co. This artisanal home brew has a number of things going for it.
- First off, it has a very short ingredient list with only 9 players
- No paraben and not tested on animals
- The presentation has a personal feel to it, like it was specifically made just for you.
- The packaging is made of a glass jar and a metal lid making it feel authentic and vintage.
- The aroma is a delicate chocolate scent
- And lastly it feels great in the hair.
Shout out to Alan and Phi at 3 Decker Pomade Co. for letting us try their awesome creation.
You should know that Dapper Boy is not a pomade as per say, but rather a cream or paste. So if you’re looking for something along the line of that ringing-gel type of pomade, this ain’t the thing. BUT!!! If you are looking for a natural product that will create great volume along with decent hold without feeling crunchy, than this my friends is something you will be interested in.
Over the course of the last year or so I have been presented with more and more cream-paste like products. I want to say that this type of product is where things are at since most brands are now producing at least one paste if not more. The great thing about paste and specifically about Dapper Boy is that it generates great volume while giving a natural look. Yes, I am a sworn believer in the all-mighty pomade, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate a good product. You might be surprise to see that you can produce a fabulous pomp with this stuff. And because of the oil participants in the mix, you will also get a healthy shine. If you are not in the “know”, coconut oil is a fantastic gift from nature for both our hair and skin.
Pastes are lighter than pomade as a general rule. This will allow for hair styles with some elevation like a pomp or a quiff.
Here is the rating on a scale of 1 to 5 where 5 is a perfect score and/or level of shine:
- Hold: 3.5
- Shine: 3.5
- Texture: 5
- Feel in hair: 5
- Facility to wash out: 5
All of a sudden it is summer in Ottawa this weekend. We went from 12’C to a high of 30’C today. Serious heat is usually somewhat of a no-no for many hair fixatives, not for Dapper boy. I got some commitment and determination out of. Perhaps a good 3 hours of hold as per my initial styling which then relaxed into a very nice natural style. I usually don’t like my curls, but this worked out nicely.
All and all Dapper Boy is a very nice option. In fact, I might just say that it is one of the better “natural” options I have tried.
