BLU – JOHN ALLAN: A wet pomade
If you are looking simply to achieve a 50’s slicked back – Blu will do the trick. The texture is pleasant as is the scent. By all accounts it’s a quality product. On the other hand if you are also trying to accomplish some height with your “pomp” or any mild spiking, this is not the product you want. You might get some elevation for about an hour and by then the weight of the product will simply make your hair fall. The pomade also remains active. By that I mean it does not quite dry, thus making it suitable for the greaser look. The Blue pomade is somewhat soft out of the jar. It’s more of a wet pomade if we can make that reference. Since it had good reviews, I was willing to try it regardless of it’s more expensive price tag. Sadly, it did not turn out to be a match for my target hair style. If memory serves me right, this is also when I took the decision that no matter how the good reviews were, if a pomade was over $30 it wouldn’t make my list.
