Barburys Shampoo and Conditioner “In-one”
After being so impressed with the Barburys Pomade, I picked up a number of other Barbury products at the Sally Beauty shop. We are now onto the Shampoo and Conditioner combo.
The scent of this product is similar to that of the Barburys shaving cream and aftershave balm: woodsy pine, a spice element with a touch of sweetness. Very inviting!
I will be up front and state that the fun stops there. This shampoo was not a winner for my hair. The cleaning power of this shampoo is not under question. It behaves very much like other deep-cleaning shampoos I have tried, where absolutely everything is washed away; product buildup, dirt, oils (good and bad). The thick pomade I had was washed out with ease.
The conditioning elements on the other hand, were very weak. So weak that my hair felt dry like straw when rinsing the shampoo out. The degreasing properties of this shampoo were simply too potent. Combing after a towel drying was actually a problem and I lost 5-6 hairs in the process. This is not something I remember happening before and not something I want to put my hair through again. Getting older, every hair is precious!
The first time I tried this shampoo conditioner combo, I realized that the conditioning was lacking and actually did a conditioner treatment before finishing my shower. But that is not really putting the product under test now is it. This is suppose to be a shampoo and conditioner treatment, not just a wash.
This is not the first shampoo-conditioner combo I try and it is clear that these combination products are no substitute for an actual proper shampoo and conditioner. But with our busy lives, combining these products into one simple treatment does sounds like a practical and convenient idea. The last combo I tried before this one was the Clean Spice from Redken and it turned out to be a surprising product. So I am not ruling this combination approach out.
That being said, this “In-One” solution from Barburys does not offer enough conditioning or oil elements for my thick and longish uppercut. I never enjoy putting together a review like this because a lot of research and development goes into building a product. But at the same time, the goal of Style4Men is to share the experience. This Barburys product didn’t win me over, but that doesn’t take anything away from their awesome pomade or their very decent shaving products. I will end up using this product as a shampoo when I intend on also doing a conditioner treatment.
