REUZEL Daily Shampoo – a deep cleaner
Yesterday I felt lucky and indulged in a petro based pomade: Lucky Tiger. That stuff surprises me every time. As good as it is, then comes the difficult task of washing it out. In preparation of my next petro-pomade usage I had ordered a bottle of the REUZEL daily shampoo some weeks ago on Amazon. Having some Lucky Tiger to wash out, I figured that this was the right time to put it to the test.
A small note on the actual bottle, it is a mid-sized clear bottle of 350 ml. The sides are ribbed with the REUZEL name so to offer some grip. It might not come out so well in the picture, but it is a nice touch joining marketing and purpose. Note that REUZEL uses the same exact bottle for their hair tonic. Click here to read that review.
The shampoo itself is a slight golden clear, perhaps like white grape juice. The texture is fairly thick. Pretty much like most decent shampoos.
I read that one way of getting rid of oil based pomades was to start the washing process with conditioner as opposed to the shampoo. I tried this approach this morning. The conditioner I had on hand was a bottle of that minty Bead Head. After wetting my hair I could barely put my fingers through it, but after applying some conditioner it felt like it was dissolving the petro based pomade, so I moved onto the shampoo part.
Scent wise, it is extremely discreet. The little bit of fragrance that comes out is peppermint.
The REUZEL shampoo lathers up very fast and very thick. Note to self, use no more than the size of a dime next time. The shampoo cleans quite well and it certainly felt like it was getting rid of buildup. This is the type of shampoo that leaves your hair “squeaky” clean. It removes all and any build up! As such, expect to do another conditioner treatment to replenish your hair’s natural oils. It also felt like it did a thorough cleaning of the scalp.
If you main goal is to wash out oil or petro based pomade, this will be a good option as it is a strong “de-greaser”. Since I mostly use water-based pomade, this is somewhat of an overkill for my day-to-day shampoo, but it is certainly going to be the solution I turn to next time I feel Lucky.
The REUZEL pomades are among my top 10, but I haven’t used them lately. Next time I use one of them I will be sure to wash it out with the REUZEL Shampoo and update this review, since the shampoo was most likely designed to specifically wash out that pomade concoction.
In closing, this is a deep-cleaning shampoo that will wash away some seriously messy stuff.
