Lucky Tiger Mollé Brushless Shave Cream – Awesome
This post is a follow up to the Lucky Tiger Vanishing Cream After Shaving Moisturizer, I reviewed a few weeks back. I was initially disappointed to not have the two companion products to try them out as a set. Sadly, this specific Lucky Tiger product is not readily available in Canada. I ended up finding it on amazon.com for $10 and $5 of shipping. Shipping from the US was about a week. So here we are.
This stuff comes in a very generous jar of 340 g. Upon opening the lid you will find a freshness seal. Inside is a lovely cream. Visually, it looks like whipped cream and if it smelt sweet you would certainly try to eat it. It has a clear enough hand cream type of scent. Somewhat neutral.
This morning I had a 4 day old beard. In my case, that’s a big enough job. I figured, what better time to try this product out. I applied a generous portion. It sticks well to the skin and is easy to spread around. I used maybe a bit too much and would suggest that the size of a dollar will do the job.
It feels fresh and has no tingling effect like the After Shave vanishing cream. It does on the other hand have an ever so slight numbing feeling or perhaps we could consider that to be perfect insulation. I am not totally sure. Onto the shave. Considering the longer beard, I was expecting this to be a bit more challenging. Not even a little!
The blade glided ever so smoothly, slicing the beard off as if it were nothing. With a longer beard, I obviously had to do a few passes over the same areas. No trouble and no discomfort. By the time I was almost done, I opted to revived the remaining cream with a touch of water to help the lubrication. The water perfectly revived the cream and granted necessary lube to finish the job.
Rinsing the razor between passes required no effort. The cream is thick but washes away nicely under hot water. I noticed that my razor head was considerably more slippery than with other creams. This indicates that the cream has a good level of oil which is good for the blade lubrication and good for your face as shaving is a serious irritant by removing a small layer of our natural protection. If you are a shower shaver, I would caution you as this stuff might be hazardous for a slip incident.
I normally finish up by removing the left over shaving cream with a hot wet wash cloth. The cream was wiped off without any effort or irritation.
Without hesitation, I would state that this was a beautiful shave!
TEST STAGE:
- State: Out of the shower
- Razor: Merkur 180
- Blade: Derby Extra
- Pre-Shave: None
- Shaving Cream: Lucky Tiger Mollé
- After-Shave: Lucky Tiger Vanishing Cream
The final touch was to apply a very small coat of Lucky Tiger Vanishing cream. In the previous tests I felt a distinctive tingling-refreshing feeling when applying the Vanishing cream. Having previously used the Mollé shave cream, which as mentioned above, has a slight numbing effect, I will say that the tingling effect was reduced.
Together, these two products are an absolutely awesome duo! for my mug, it’s a 5/5!
