PRORASO Gel Riparatore – TOTALLY IMPRESSIVE
Last week I was at my favorite Italian grocery store in the Ottawa Byward Market, La Botega / Nicastro’s to replenish some of my PRORASO shaving supplies.
While browsing what they had, I noticed this fairly small box. I picked it up to get a closer look at what it might be. My Italian is not so good but it being so close to French, I understood that it was a “shaving problem fixer”. Or more accurately, a shaving cut fixer.
The label states: PER I PICCOLI PROBLEMI DELLA RASATURA
Or in English: For small shaving problems.
This morning I had the opportunity to try this product as I was retesting the Men Essentials ME1 butterfly razor with a DERBY Extra blade. This blade has given me consistently good results when used in my MERKUR 180, so I figured I should try this razor again as my previous shaves with it were not so good. At the time I had used a Rockwell blade. I have since concluded that these blades were not suitable for me. It was time to re-verify the razor itself with a known good blade. Well, even using a good blade I ended up with 4-5 nicks. I concluded that it is totally incumbent on the razor. After some 30 years of shaving, this is a rare occurrence and it is inconvenient. But on the positive side; it also set the stage to try out the “Gel Riparatore”.
Guys, this thing is a must for everyone! It comes out in drops and you do not need anymore than a tiny drop per nick or cut to put the bleeding to a stop. The product is clear and extremely sticky. This seals the wound. There is no added sensation, hot or cold. It just stops the bleeding and any irritation.
Consistent with the reasonable PRORASO pricing model, this was $4.99 for the 10 ml tube…and worth every penny.
As mentioned above, my tube was bough in an Italian grocery store, which probably imports allot of its merchandise directly, so the label was for the Italian market. The English labeling would state: PRORASO Styptic Razor Repair Gel. A few searches on line showed it being sold at some $10. So I suggest you shop around. I haven’t seen it in my local Shopper’s Drug Mart, but that might be different from store to store as they do hold many PRORASO products as part of their staple product lines.
