Olympus Beard Oil by WSP
Continuing on the beard oil highlight, I am very pleased to be featuring the Olympus Beard Oil by my friends at Wet Shaving Products (WSP). These folks are obviously in the shaving business, but haven’t forgotten about you. Quite to the contrary, in fact they offer one of the largest array of beard oils I have come across. They have 8 fragrances plus an unscented option as well as a scented to order (custom). If that is not taking things seriously, than I don’t know what is!

WSP has earned my loyalty with their shaving soap, after shave and pomade. It is thus natural to be walking into this with a positive prejudice. This opinion is immediately backed up with some “A” list ingredients in their beard oil.
- Jojoba oil
- Apricot oil
- Grapeseed oil
- Avocado oil

WSP takes a very down to earth but effective approach to their labeling. For my taste, it’s a total winner. That edgy vintage vibe speaks to me, on top of being a very manly overall presentation.
Contrary to the many other drop counter bottle heads, the one from WSP is a reducer nipple.This makes for a clean dispensing. The rectangular bottle is a unique one as this is the first I see in the beard oil space. Like most other bottles, this one also contains 30 ml of oil.
As presented in previous beard oil posts, we will use a scale of 1 to 5, where 5 is the top mark and these will be the rating parameters:
- Composition: This one will be based on the ingredient selection. More natural oil in attendance, the better the grade. The same with chemical, the less of them are there, the better the grade.
- Aroma: This is one is completely subjective as it is based on my nose and what I think of the scent.
- Performance: Overall performance, how does the oil feel, how long does it last, does it improve the dryness of my skin and beard, etc.…
Olympus from WSP gets the following rating from us:
- Composition: 5 (At only 5 ingredients, this deserves full marks)
- Aroma: 4 (the scent is well done, but there could be more of it)
- Performance: 5
On the aroma, I apologize as my nose is acting up and I can’t quite identify the elements, but I do detect a very fresh and agreeable vibe. It is not cucumber, but the freshness and summer aura reminds me of that. The scent is very delicate and does not entirely cover the natural scent of oil. Let me clarify that, this does not have an oily smell, but it is identifiable. Just like olive oil has a light but recognizable smell. I find the fragrance almost too discreet. It is not that I am hoping to use this as a cologne substitute, but rather that I like the aroma and I would a bit more of it.
I have been using the WSP Olympus beard oil on 1-2 days worth of growth and as such, it is not an ideal terrain. Clearly my skin is appreciating the bonus treatment but because there isn’t all that much beard as per say the absorption is not as pronounced. I am thinking this is because of the state of my beard, but I have to consider that not all beard oil will behave the same or require the same amount to be applied to do their job. The takeaway here is that very little Olympus is needed in my case.
The oil made my skin and limited beard growth feel very comfortable. Rubbing my fingers on my mug, there was no oily or slimy residue. Nice and clean.
To sum things up, WSP does it again with a well rounded home-made product that doesn’t feel home-made. The oil performs nicely and I totally appreciate the simplicity and wholesome composition of this beard oil. For my nose the fragrance could go up the intensity chart one notch, but as it is it will not hinder other scent you might be sporting making it an easy solution to work with.
