Beard oil by dippity-do MEN
Continuing on our beard oil coverage, today we try out the one produced by the folks at “Dippity-do MEN”. This is a Canadian brand available in Shoppers Drug Mart and Walmart. I picked up a bottle for just under $7 with taxes. Mind blowing, right?!
Men’s grooming products is an exploding market and beard oil in particular is certainly the one hot commodity that everyone is fighting for. At first, it was mostly artisans and Barbers making beard oil but it soon caught the attention of the big brand. By now, pretty much everyone is making a beard oil. And for good reasons! They are simple to make and are extremely healthy for both your beard whiskers and skin. With the high demand also comes a fairly steep price. Some brands are asking as much as much as $35, while most brands have positioned themselves around the $20 range. Typically, the price of such a product can be substantiated in great part by the ingredient selection and the price of these ingredients.
Having produced a couple of rounds of my very own beard oil using coconut oil, sweet almond oil and avocado oil, I will say that the most expensive aspect of my little production was the labelling on a per bottle break-down. My total costs were just around $5 / bottle. We can logically assume that anyone producing more than 24 bottles per run will be significantly lowering their cost per bottle. By that rational, a commercial beard oil would be priced anywhere between $10 – $16 once you factor in all of the legal concerns, shipping and a profit margin.
When I saw the ingredient list on the Dippity-do MEN beard oil: sunflower seed oil, sweet almond oil, apricot and argan oil, and the $5.99 price tag – I told myself: let’s see how this thing does.
Check out the benefits of these oils for yourself. They are impressive!
First off, the product does not smell like oil and the mild fragrance does an excellent job of covering it up. The scent is a very discreet tea tree and possibly citrus arrangement. Don’t expect this to replace or even to compete with your cologne. But you also won’t smell like oil! 🙂

One of my big concerns with beard oil is absorption rate. The product needs to blend into my beard and skin fairly quickly. I am not interesting in having a shiny mug and having to wash my hands if I happen to touch my face or beard. This oil was absorbed quickly leaving no real residue. I also felt moisturize and comfortable.
It’s important to note that this product doubles up as a hair oil as well. Hair oil is a very relevant product that you should use if you have a dry itchy scalp. Basically if you are scratching, plop a few drop of this stuff and blend into your scalp in the evening. It will go a long way. Healthy scalp = healthy hair!
Summing thing up
Good grooming is crucial, but good grooming doesn’t necessarily have to cost you and arm and a leg. I am pretty excited to report that the Dippity-Do MEN beard oil is worthy to play alongside the best of them…at almost a third of the price. I will say that based on this product test I will be trying more products by this brand.
