Beard oil by Beard Game Strong
As part of our new found beard oil love, we are aiming to feature more such products. Today’s new comer is Beard Game Strong or BGS Brand. This is a Canadian brand focusing on beard oil. These guys operate out of Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ontario, Canada and are a family own business. The whole process is done by hand. Kudos for the artisanal approach.
The brand mascot is a Belgian Malinois and not a German Shepherd. Some of the key traits of this working bread: intelligence, loyalty, agility and robustness. A dog that will love and protect his family with the same determination as you would. Being a dog person and for having had a shepherd for many years, this branding speaks to me.
Let’s jump right into it! What will you find in this beard oil? The Team is made up of the following stars:
The fragrance is composed of the following essentials oil:
- Orange Peel
- Sandalwood
- Clove
- Vanilla
To my nose the marriage of the orange peel and clove makes it! The slight bitterness of the orange peel gets toned down by the vanilla for a perfect arrangement. What I like about the arrangement is that is feel familiar and comfortable while being something new.
Fragrance intensity is a crucial thing to get right and BGS does get it right. The aroma is strong enough to hide any oil odor and it is also strong enough to be a very pleasant scent that would be comparable to an aftershave to the wet shavers. But it remains a perfectly discreet gentleman. No one who is not in your personal space will know about it.
The big part of the review is how well did the oil do!!! It did beautifully! Coming back to the above mentioned rock star players, the results could be nothing else than stellar. As mentioned before, I am not sporting a glorious pirate beard, but rather anything from 1 to 7 days of growth. I liked the oil as it made my mug incredibly comfortable. Is important to note that this kind of product does wonders for both your skin and your beard. My mug was hydrated and refreshed with a total of about 4 drops that were rubbed in. The sum of the oil was adsorbed leaving a healthy looking skin.
When rubbing my fingers on my mug thereafter there was no oily residue. Again, that is due to the high quality selection of oils.
As presented in previous beard oil posts, we will use a scale of 1 to 5, where 5 is the top mark and the following criteria will be our rating parameters:
- Composition: This one will be based on the ingredient selection. More natural oil in attendance, the better the grade. The same with chemical, the less of them are there, the better the grade.
- Aroma: This is one is completely subjective as it is based on my nose and what I think of the scent.
- Performance: Overall performance, how does the oil feel, how long does it last, does it improve the dryness of my skin and beard, etc.…
The oil from BSG gets the following rating from us:
- Composition: 5+ (The guest oil are all skin and hair rock stars)
- Aroma: 5
- Performance: 5
In closing this oil was an unexpected surprise. It is well crafted rendering an original and manly scent as well as a top shelf performance.
